The technicians huddling around Bonnie felt her imposing demeanor. They wondered how a genius like her could emulate such an overwhelming sense of authority. They even thought her aura was well above Billy’s.

The technicians turned and glanced at Billy. His expression was inexplicable as he took the teapot and poured her a cup of tea. “You possess an extraordinary elegance, Barrett. Who did you learn from?”

The technicians followed suit in probing.

“Yeah, we’re all curious! Your mentor must be incredible to have someone as awesome as you as their student.”

“Please tell us about yourself, Barrett. Don’t leave us hanging.”

Meanwhile, Bonnie knew why Billy posed this question.

‘He just wants to know who my mentor is and who I really am. He must also want to contact my mentor to recruit him to further his goals. I must hand it to Billy for being wise. Unfortunately for him, he’s dealing with me. Why should I let him get his way?’

Bonnie sipped her tea and responded with a made-up story, “I don’t have a mentor. I taught myself everything I know about computer science.”

Everyone was wide-eyed with surprise when they heard that.

“Wait, you’re saying you mastered computers yourself?!” Billy was in disbelief.

‘I spent a ton on my technicians. They even need to further their studies and attend yearly seminars. Still, they’re not nearly as good as Barrett!’

Bonnie shrugged and said calmly, “I wouldn’t say I mastered computers. These things just come to me naturally.”

‘It’s no big deal for him?! My technicians spent days crafting these tests. How can he say such a thing? I wonder how my technicians feel hearing that. Even so, Barrett has earned the right to brag since he completed the hardest tests they could devise, not to mention he did it in five minutes. Frankly, I’m still in disbelief.’

Billy had regarded Bonnie with disdain and contempt when they first met. However, he gradually admired her. After all, she was the only one among the many interviewees who showed him hope.

Finally, Billy had found someone capable of cracking the chip. Once Bonnie did it, his organization would garner more power and influence worldwide.
