“All right, I’ll hang up now.” Bonnie ended the call and began her preparations based on how she predicted Billy would test her. She even took extra precautions when preparing.
…
Once Ivor ended his call with Bonnie, he looked at Floyd and ordered, “Call the Nidhoggs and ask them for an update on their leader’s infiltration. Get them to tell us when we can begin our operation.”
“Right away, Mr. Ivor.” Floyd took his phone and quickly called Collin.
Buzz, buzz! Buzz!
Collin heard a phone vibrating and thought Ivor was trying to call Bonnie again. The former sprang up from his bed and braced himself for it. However, he realized his phone was vibrating instead of Bonnie’s.
Collin answered the call, “Hello?”
Floyd asked, “My boss wants to know how things are going for your leader and when we can begin our operation.”
Collin said impatiently, “Come on, man. Our chip got stolen, and my leader’s in the belly of the beast. All you guys have to do is sit and wait. No one expects you to do anything dangerous, either. Why are you rushing us?
“I won’t mind you bugging me once, but you ask for a million daily updates. If you can’t wait, we’ll send our people in to save Mr. Boyd. We don’t need the Dark Knights!”
Collin was furious because Bonnie had to deal with Billy while caring for Ivor’s needs. She had a lot on her plate as it was. Although the Dark Knights were their allies, they kept bugging the Nidhoggs to rush things.
Floyd wanted to argue but knew the Dark Knights were at fault. Instead of responding, he turned to Ivor and whispered, “Did you hear all that, Mr. Ivor? How do you want me to respond?”
Ivor massaged his temples and said, troubled, “Stop rushing them. Indeed, their leader is in a tough spot. Their impatience is only natural since we keep bugging them for updates. I’m anxious to wrap things up, but I shouldn’t pressure them. I’m at fault for not thinking it through.”
Floyd nodded. “Understood.”
The former was about to respond to Collin when Ivor recalled something and frowned, saying, “Hold on a minute.”
Floyd asked, “What’s wrong, sir?”
“Don’t you think Collin sounds similar to Allen, the new researcher at Bonnie’s research institute?” Ivor had overheard Floyd’s conversation with Collin. The more Ivor listened, the more he found Collin’s voice familiar.
