Billy grinned, satisfied with Falcon’s explanation. The former said, “Keep up the good work.”
Falcon said respectfully, “Thank you for trusting me, Billy.”
Billy looked downstairs, his eyes brimming with coldness as he said, “We don’t need to jump to conclusions now. Let’s wait and see what happens.”
Falcon was stunned. He asked in puzzlement, “Where are you going with this?”
“Barrett’s no fool, nor is the Nidhoggs’ leader. Do you think he doesn’t know we’re monitoring him from up here?” Billy’s tone grew colder as he spoke.
“Are you saying…” Falcon could almost guess Billy’s intentions but was unsure.
The latter nodded and said, “That’s right. I saw it, too. Barrett seems to pity the guys we tortured and knows we’re watching. However, he won’t do anything now, even if he intends to help them. We’ll wait and see if he does anything later. Then, we’ll make our final verdict.”
Falcon frowned and added, “You’re right, but Barrett has an innocent background. It makes sense if he pities them. I realize my tests weren’t perfect. Even so, Barrett shares similarities with my old boss. I can’t conclude anything with insignificant details.”
The more he spoke, the deeper his frown became. “Barrett has exhibited some accidental reactions that remind me so much of Boyd.”
Falcon thought things became more convoluted the more he tested “Bonnie.” He felt lost and could do nothing to find the truth.
