Chapter 245
Avril’s mind started to feel muddled, unable to discern whether Bonnie was teasing her or truly knew Jim.
Soon, the auction began.
The first item up for auction was a pair bracelets.
“Wow! They’re so beautiful!” Avril’s eyes lit up as she stared at the items on the auction platform.
Bonnie examined them closely. “These bracelets are indeed nice. Do you like them?”
“Of course I do.” Avril stretched her hand toward Bonnie, jokingly saying, “Look at my wrist. It’s missing a jade bracelet like this one. However, these bracelets are expensive, so I’ll just admire them from afar.”
Bonnie narrowed her eyes slightly at the beautiful bracelets and then shifted her gaze back to the stage.
Trina, like Avril, had stars in her eyes. “Hadwin, those bracelets are so pretty!”
Hadwin affectionately wrapped his arms around Trina’s waist. “Since you like them, I’ll
bid for them for you.”
“No, no, it’s too expensive. You don’t have to waste money,” Trina pretended to be very sensible, constantly eyeing the bracelets. She looked like she liked them but was unwilling to let him spend money.
“You’re my woman. Spending on you isn’t a waste. Wait, I’ll bid for them right away.”
Trina felt moved, leaning into Hadwin’s embrace.
“Ugh, I can’t stand this lovey–dovey stuff. It’s disgusting and inappropriate,” Avril said, rubbing her arms with goosebumps. Then, she turned to Bonnie. “Luckily, he broke off the engagement with you. Otherwise, that pig you’ve snatched you up.”
Bonnie glanced at the loving couple and said calmly, “Even if he didn’t break off the engagement, I would’ve broken it off with him.”
“Exactly. That kind of tasteless scum doesn’t deserve you at all,” Kay crossed her arms
and scoffed.
In the private room, when Ivor saw Heath, he murmured, “Huh? It’s him.”
“Who?” Ged had been busy drinking tea and hadn’t noticed, but hearing Ivor’s confusion, he redirected his gaze to the auctioneer.
“Isn’t that the guy beside Ms. Bonnie when you challenged her to a chess game? He’s the auctioneer for this event? I remember his name being Mr. Heath. The Rice family organizes this auction yearly. It’s been around for centuries. He happens to have the same surname as the Rice family. What’s his relationship with them?”
Ged’s eyes lit up. “Are you saying this Heath could be the eldest son of the Rice family?”
“It’s possible, but Rice is a prominent family, so he might not necessarily be the eldest son,” Ivor analyzed with narrowed eyes.
Ged took a deep breath. “Wow, the Rice family is no ordinary wealthy family. Their background extends back hundreds of years, and they’ve produced several powerful masters. With such a background, if he is the eldest son of the Rice family, then Ms. Bonnie is truly remarkable to befriend someone from such an illustrious family.”
