Chapter 357
“Wh–what?! No, it wasn’t me!” Nancy paled in terror.
“How dare you deny it. Everyone saw you handing Bonnie the drink. You can’t talk yourself out of this mess!” Tatiana roared.
Nancy began to cry, feeling sorry for herself. “You can’t be this unreasonable, Tatiana. You told me to give Ms. Bonnie this drink. You can’t just ”
“Although I told you to give her the drink, it was fine when I gave it to you. You must’ve spiked it after taking it from me!”
“How can you accuse me like that? I–I knew I shouldn’t have helped you, but I need the money for my mom’s treatment. She’ll be heartbroken if she finds out what I did. She’d much rather give up on her treatment than allow me to do something so outrageous.”
Nancy cried her eyes out as she swept her gaze across the place. She bit her lip and added, “Tatiana
ordered me to do it because she loves Orpheus. She’s jealous of Bonnie and wants to ruin her.”
“Damn you, Nancy! I can’t believe you’re trying to accuse me!” Tatiana motioned to slap her assistant.
However, Bonnie hastened over and grabbed Tatiana’s wrist.
The latter roared, “What do you think you’re doing?!”
Bonnie stared at Tatiana and said indifferently, “I won’t allow you to hit her.”
“Who the fuck do you think you are?! She’s my assistant, and there’s nothing wrong with me teaching her
a lesson!”
Bonnie’s expression grew grim. “According to Arvandor’s law, you can’t do that. Not unless you travel through time and live during the age of slavery. Back then, you could even kill your slave if you wanted to.
“However, your assistant isn’t your slave. On the contrary, you should respect her because she’s working
for you. Do you honestly think being wealthy means you’re better than everyone else? You can’t attack
people just because you want to.”
Most of the onlookers resonated with Bonnie’s words.
‘She’s right! We must treat everyone as equals, but the wealthy always think they’re better than everyone.
else!”
The wealthy have never shown us respect! They yell at us as if we have no feelings! They don’t shy away from cursing at us and our families! Still, we can do nothing about it because we need to put food on the table. We can only bear with it for our families‘ sake.”
Everyone looked at Bonnie, no longer regarding her as a good–for–nothing like the rumors suggested. Soon after, the crowd began to point at Tatiana and murmur about her abusing her status and mistreating her assistant.
As far as Tatiana was concerned, it was all Bonnie’s doing. The former would not have become the
onlooker’s enemy if Bonnie had not spoken up
Nancy glanced at Bonnie gratefully but also felt a pang of guilt.
