Frank hesitated, unsure how to broach the topic with Harper. "Harper, there's something I need to tell you."
Harper was surprised. "What is it?"
"It might upset you, but I don't want to hide it from you. I think it's best to tell you," Frank said.
Harper frowned.
"Go ahead."
"Is the nursing worker who takes care of Eleanor the one you found in Dattlech?" Frank asked.
Harper nodded. "Why do you suddenly ask about her?"
"Her husband is called Jorge, and he's been under investigation by Benjamin's people recently," Frank revealed.
"Under investigation by Benjamin's people? How do you know?" Harper was surprised.
Frank remained composed. "Jorge is an old friend of the Parker family's driver. He mentioned it to my father while Michelle was visiting, so I found out about it. Since Jorge is married to that nursing worker, I asked them to be cautious."
Harper nodded and asked, "Why is Benjamin investigating him? Is it because of something specific?"
Frank hesitated. "Harper, as an outsider, I might not be the best person to say this. Perhaps you should ask Benjamin yourself?"
"It's okay. Just tell me," Harper insisted.
She just wanted to know why Benjamin was investigating Jorge.
Frank hesitated for a moment before saying, "I inquired, and Benjamin suspects that Jorge was deliberately arranged by Eleanor to sabotage his relationship with Lauren, and ultimately cause Lauren to become a vegetable. I'm worried Benjamin might cause trouble for Eleanor, so I took the liberty of having someone keep an eye on her. Benjamin went to the hospital today. Did he mention it to you?"
Frank tested the waters.
Harper felt a strange feeling in her heart as she looked at Frank.
She said, "Benjamin suspects that Jorge was arranged by Eleanor to sabotage his relationship with Lauren. A year ago, before I married him, Eleanor didn't even know him. Besides, Eleanor wouldn't have the heart to ruin someone else's life."
Harper found it unbelievable.
She didn't believe it.
Frank said, "I find it strange too, but Harper, if Benjamin suspects Eleanor and considering how much he cares about Lauren, what do you think he might do? Especially now that Eleanor is about to undergo surgery, I'm worried something unexpected might happen, so..."
He didn't need to say more.
But his words left Harper feeling unsettled.
She couldn't believe Eleanor would do such a thing, nor did she think it had anything to do with Eleanor. So why was Benjamin investigating Jorge?
With the surgery imminent, Harper found it difficult to remain calm.
She looked at Frank and said, "Frank, thank you for telling me all this."
