Harper didn't know why Benjamin had such a rich imagination.
She was so angry that laughed.
She said, "Benjamin, do you know what you are talking about? I just hitched a ride in his car. Besides, I was not alone. Annie was with me!"
Benjamin narrowed his eyes and stopped talking, but his displeasure did not diminish at all.
Harper said calmly, "What are you angry about?"
Harper felt quite helpless, but there were some words that she couldn't say to Benjamin. So as he kept silent, she stopped talking too.
Harper got up and was about to go back to the room when his deep voice arose without emotion. "Are you impatient with me now?"
Harper was exactly confused.
She stared blankly at the man sitting on the sofa. Why did she feel that he was a little unreasonable?
She frowned, and the gentle look on her face turned cold. "Benjamin, don't you think it's me who should ask you this question? Aren't you impatient with me? From the time I came back to now, every word you said to me was full of questions and dissatisfaction. I have already explained that I came back in his car just because I was on the way, that's all. If you don't believe me, there's nothing I can do about it."
Benjamin narrowed his eyes heavily and sneered, "So it's my fault? Did I come back in another woman's car to deliberately cause trouble for you? And explain with a mere sentence?"
Harper felt that if things continued like this, there might be a quarrel. But she would feel uncomfortable if she said nothing. She said, "How could I deliberately find trouble with you? Are you looking for trouble with me? Are you going to quarrel with me now over such a trivial matter?
"Am I going to quarrel with you? Isn't it you?"
Her face turned pale, and her fine eyelashes trembled slightly. "Benjamin, I just took a ride in the car and you are so dissatisfied. What about you? What you did to Lauren was far from sitting in the car. Did I say anything about you?"
"Harper!"
He shouted her name sharply, and in his words contained all his emotions and anger.
Harper didn't fear at all, just looked into his eyes and remained silent.
The two looked at each other, and neither of them had any intention of compromising.
His looked even colder. "Are you trying to settle an old score with me now?"
Harper was silent.
He said again, "Harper, do you really dislike me or do you not give me the chance?"
As soon as he finished speaking, he stood up.
He walked past Harper and directly towards the door. Within a second, she heard the sound of the door closing heavily.
Harper stood motionless with dull eyes, with indifference flickering in her eyes.
She didn't know why it became like this?
She didn't do anything wrong.
What's more, she and Frank were different from him and Lauren, weren't they?
Harper felt so tired.
