Chapter 499 Courage
Benjamin had always arranged for someone to protect Harper secretly. But he never questioned Harper's every move, giving her plenty of space and freedom.
But at the moment, listening to Curtis' words, he furrowed his brows with a questioning look in his eyes. "She didn't go to the company all day yesterday?"
"Yes."
Curtis nodded.
Benjamin thought, "Harper didn't mention it to me or even tell me about not going to the company."
He narrowed his eyes slightly, his eyes profound. He said faintly, "Where she went with Annie yesterday?"
"Mrs. Martin stayed at the apartment all yesterday."
It was from the people who were protecting Harper.
It surprised Benjamin even more. Since Harper hadn't gone to the company or anywhere else, and from what he knew of Harper, it couldn't have been unless something was going on.
His expression gradually became cold. He smiled wryly, "What did she do the day before yesterday?"
If she was all right and there was nothing strange about her, he would never have bothered to investigate thoroughly.
But she was too strange, so something definitely happened. Otherwise, she wouldn't possibly not go to the company or even leave the apartment. It was too rare.
Benjamin waved Curtis out and sat alone in the large office. He loosened his tie, and his face flushed with gloomy indifference.
He was so displeased that he then picked up his cell phone on the side and dialed Harper's number directly.
Upon answering, he asked Harper directly, "Where are you?"
"I'm home." Harper didn't lie but answered truthfully.
Otherwise, she would have to fill it with more lies.
There was a brief moment of silence after her words. Benjamin didn't speak again. Harper asked with some surprise, "Benjamin? Why aren't you speaking?"
"What are you doing at home? Don't you have to go to the company?"
Benjamin reacted steadily and remained calm at all times.
He wondered how she was going to answer.
