"What does Miss Superstar Josephine Liang have to do with me? You think too highly of me, Mrs. Dong." Elizabeth Liang sat back down and said slowly.

"It wasn't you?" Charlotte Dong clearly did not believe her. "I'm telling you right now, Elizabeth, don't try to play dumb with me!"

Elizabeth was unfazed. She looked at Charlotte who was sitting across from her with a furious expression, then said in a sardonic tone, "It might've been me if I were still the heiress of the Liang family. But you guys kicked me out, remember? Do you honestly think that I'm capable of doing that in my down-trodden state?"

Elizabeth would've never been able to say something like this in the past. Perhaps it was thanks to James Lu's influence that she was able to easily form sarcastic and derisive sentences like this.

"Hmph! You might be powerless, but that doesn't mean whatever sleazebag you hooked up with is the same!"

"What do you mean?"

"What do I mean?" Charlotte hatefully spat out with disdain, "I've heard everything from Josephine. You managed to hook up with James Lu, didn't you?"

Charlotte thought that her silence was an admission of guilt. "So you think you can target our family just because you've found another one to lean on, don't you? Why didn't I see how much of a heartless b*tch you were before, Elizabeth? Do you remember who raised you after your parents were gone? If you've forgotten our kindness then fine, I'll accept that I've wasted all that money and effort for nothing. But did you have to go that far? Do you know how hard Josephine worked, how hard our family worked for her show, for her role? Are you happy now that you've ruined all that just by whispering into James Lu's ear?! He deserves to see how ugly and disgusting your true colors are!"

Elizabeth's hands were clenched into fists. Her eyes reddened and her thin frame was trembling slightly, all just from Charlotte's words.

"Please watch what you're saying!" Elizabeth deeply inhaled. "First of all, I don't know the reason for what happened to Josephine. If you're going to blame me just because of your baseless assumption, then I'm sorry, but I refuse to listen. Secondly, who I am with is none of your business, and has absolutely nothing to do with you or anyone in your family. And most importantly, yes my parents were gone early, but are you sure you guys were the ones who supported me? If it wasn't for the business that my father and mother worked so hard to build, do you really think that your family could've lived comfortably with me for so many years?"

After saying all that, Elizabeth really began feeling like she should've brought Evelyn Wu along. She didn't like being mean, but Evelyn could cut a b*tch with words like nobody else. "You..." Charlotte couldn't deny that she was surprised. Elizabeth would've never been able to give that speech to her without a break in the past. Looks like she really has grown and changed!

"Look at how tough you are now you shameless little b*tch! You really think you moved up in the world huh? Let me tell you something, even if you really managed to climb onto James, how long do you think you can keep his interest for? A rich playboy like him just likes how fresh and naive you are!"

Charlotte's agitated shouting sounded especially shrill and out-of-place in this quiet cafe.

There were not many people in the cafe, but when groups of people kept looking in their direction, it did make Elizabeth feel rather uneasy.

Elizabeth felt especially embarrassed and extremely angry when Charlotte began talking about her and James. The anger she was feeling could probably be explained as thus—she could smear her name, but not James Lu's!

"Shut up!"

"Ha! What's wrong? Did I hit where it hurts? Don't forget, you only managed to hook up with James thanks to us. The marks all over your body when you came back..." Charlotte said as she shook her head in disgust. "Tsk, tsk, tsk! I've heard from the hotel that you two were fooling around that night!"

After that, Charlotte took out her cellphone and clicked on a video she had copied into her phone, then showed it to Elizabeth.

"See! You went into James Lu's room at 10:26 P.M. the night before,1' Then she scrubbed the video to the end. "And you came out the next day at 9:48 A.M.!"

"Charlotte Dong!"

Charlotte didn't seem bothered that Elizabeth called her by her full name. "You can't even take this? You ordered James Lu to steal the Liang Company and Chao Company's deals and now you can't get off your high horse. You hate us so much that you made James Lu remove Josephine from being the female lead. What are you thinking, Elizabeth? You just want to make our life hell, don't you?"

After that, Charlotte put her phone inside her handbag. "Don't pretend that you don't know about this. The investor for Flowers On the Path has been confirmed today, and it was Lu Enterprises! What else do you have to say for yourself?!"

Hearing this, Elizabeth's heart jumped. She was still wondering before this who the investor was and why they did that to Josephine. Now, after hearing Charlotte's accusation, she knew for sure that it was him, and it was almost impossible to put to words how touched she felt.

It did feel like something that someone who hated injustice as much as James Lu would do.

But he was an extremely busy man. Which meant that he was willing to raise hell like this, solely because of her, right?
