"The shepherd boy said that he wouldn't lie anymore."
James leaned over and looked at Dax who was asleep. Then he bent over to kiss his cheek before putting down the storybook in his hand.
A day had passed by like this.
He turned up the temperature of the air conditioner and was about to go out when he heard the sound of the car engine downstairs.
He walked to the window to take a look, and then turned around and went downstairs. When he came out of the room, he did not forget to close the door gently.
"Hey, why are you standing here?" As soon as Elizabeth opened the door, she saw James standing there.
"Waiting for you."
Elizabeth smiled with guilty, "I'm sorry. When I was about to get off work, I had something else to do, so I came back late."
"Is Dax asleep?"
"Yep."
"What's wrong? Are you angry?"
James snorted, "What do you think? You said that you would get off work on time, but you didn't come back until now. The meal has become cold."
"I'm sorry." Elizabeth held James's hand and shook it gently, "I want to finish all my work so that I don't have to think about it after I go home. If I work at home, you'll be unhappy."
"Anyway, you always have an excuse." James curled his lips, "Why wasn't I as busy as you before?"
"You're more capable than me. I'm a novice at business. How dare I compare with you?"
Hearing this, James was amused, "Forget it. Anyway, don't do this again. It's impossible to finish all the work in one day. You go to work early and come back late every day. You've almost forgotten me, right?"
"No! Well, it's my fault today. I shouldn't have come back so late. I promise I won't do this again, okay?"
"That's what you said!" James squinted at her, "If you come back late again, I will go to the company to catch you directly. You don't want me to do that, do you?"
"Alright! If I don't go home on time again, just do like that." After that, Elizabeth immediately changed the subject, "Is there something to eat? I'm so hungry."
James raised his eyebrows, "Come here. I'll cook for you again."
Elizabeth followed James to the dining room. She just wanted to let James heat up the food for her, but she saw that there were knives, forks, plates full of food, candles, flowers and red wine on the table. She was stunned. She just stood there and said, "Why did you... suddenly prepare these things today?"
Hearing this, James immediately looked at her gloomily, "I knew that work is the most important to you now. Except for work, you don't remember anything else."
Elizabeth thought about what the occasion was and said, "I've been busy recently, so I forgot it."
"So tell me now. What is the occasion?"
Dax's birthday? No. James's birthday? There were still two or three months left. Well... was it a very important day?
"I knew that you've forgotten." James curled his lips, "Stupid! Today's our wedding anniversary! On the day last year, we got our marriage certificate!"
"Ah!" Elizabeth was shocked and immediately felt a little guilty.
