I Only Want You novel Chapter 169

Elizabeth was stunned and looked over in the direction of the voice. She saw James standing by the window of the living room, holding a cigarette that was smoking halfway in his hand. He was also looking at her with a bad look.

"You..." Why was he at home?

"I asked you where you were? Why didn't you answer the phone?" James was really angry, but he tried his best to endure it. Seeing that she had changed her shoes, he asked calmly, "Didn't I ask you to wait there? Where are you?"

Hearing this, Elizabeth looked down and thought for a moment. Then she said, "Our studio has been busy lately, so I worked overtime." In this case, she could barely be regarded as working overtime.

"You..." James closed his eyes and was so irritated that he wanted to curse. Taking a deep breath, he calmed down the anger in his heart and lowered his voice, "Did you work overtime today?"

"Yes."

She stood there with her head slightly lowered. She didn't look at him at all. He closed his eyes and asked, "Did you really work overtime?"

"Yes."

He bit his teeth tightly and endured the roar that was about to burst out because of his anger and irritation. Then he just asked, "Have you eaten yet?" Elizabeth nodded. Then she raised her head and asked him, "Are you still going back to the hospital today?"

James did not answer, but just looked straight at her.

Ever since she had entered the room, Elizabeth had felt a little uncomfortable because she suddenly saw him. And now that he was looking at her like that, she felt even more uncomfortable.

"Well... If you want to go to the hospital, you'd better get there early. It's a bit late now... If you don't want to, then get some rest early. I still have things to do, so I need to go upstairs first." After saying that, she trotted up the stairs.

Staring at her back, James's eyebrows couldn't help but furrow tightly.

She also knew that it was a bit late, didn't she? Why did she come back so late?

Work overtime?

Interesting—

He didn't go to Kuture, but he asked Samuel to call Kuture when he found that Elizabeth was not at home. But they told Samuel that she had already left early.

He didn't turn around until he couldn't see her anymore. He frowned and looked out at the night sky. He was getting more and more irritated.

On the small table next to him, the ashtray had been filled with cigarette butts.

When he returned to South Lake, he didn't see her. He was anxious and worried when he learned she was off work and couldn't get through to her. He couldn't calm down at all.

She didn't answer his calls, so he didn't know where she was. But her phone could be called in, so he wasn't worried about her safety. But he still couldn't relax. After all, she was still injured.

He was worried about her, so he stood here all the time. Looking out the window, he just hoped that the next second he'd see her come home. Until it was dark and he had stood so long that his legs began to hurt, but she still hadn't come home. He smoked cigarettes one after the other, feeling his throat ache.

Just when he almost couldn't help but ask Samuel to check the city's surveillance video to make sure where she was, he saw her come back.

Seeing her come back safe and sound, he felt relieved. But he wasn't happy. On the contrary, he felt more depressed.

Because she was lying to him.

Thinking of the look on her face just now and the way she went upstairs in a hurry, he thought that she was obviously abnormal. What happened to her?

"Mr. Lu, shall I ask Mrs. Lu to come down and have some chicken soup?" Jane stood in the dining room and asked politely.

"Yes."

"Okay."

Jane went upstairs. Two minutes later, she went downstairs again. James turned around and didn't see Elizabeth. He frowned and asked, "Why didn't she come down?"

"Mrs. Lu said that she just had dinner, and she doesn't want to have it now."

"Okay." He nodded. He couldn't help but look upstairs, feeling a little disappointed and helpless.

Today, Lydia sent the chicken soup to the hospital, but she had already left. After he returned home, he immediately asked Jane to buy the chicken to make soup. He only wanted her to have it when she came back.
