I Only Want You novel Chapter 309

James was sitting in his office looking at the documents when he heard the sound of the door opening. The door was gently closed, and then the sound of a woman's heel beating on the ground was heard.

"Didn't I say that you don't need to send me lunch today and you should stay at home to..." Before he could finish his words, he looked up at the door, but when he saw the visitor, the smile on his face disappeared and he frowned slightly. "Why are you here?"

Zena's lips curled into a smile as she waved the lunchbox in her hand. "I'm here to see you. I think it's almost noon, so I brought you lunch."

James's brows knitted together as he looked at the lunch box. He looked at Zena and stared at her for a while. His thin lips twitched and a mocking smile appeared on his face. "You may send it to the wrong person."

"No." Zena shook her head. "I'm here today especially to see you, Jimmy."

"See me?" James snorted. "You send me lunch, but you didn't give it to your boyfriend. Aren't you afraid that Xavier would misunderstand?"

Zena pursed her lips. "You're afraid that your wife will misunderstand, aren't you?"

"Yes." James nodded. "So, now, take your things with you and leave." Zena didn't expect James's answer to be so straightforward that he didn't even leave her any room. Her face changed. "Jimmy, you needn't do this."

James raised his eyebrows unconcernedly and asked, "What do you mean?"

Zena sighed and said, "I know that you must still be angry about what happened last time, but you know that I..."

"Well, I know. You are going after your true love, I understand."

"Don't mention these things. I just hope that even if we can't be lovers, we can still be good friends." Zena said, putting the lunch box on the table, and then took out a box from her bag and handed it to him. "I haven't come back in time for your birthday, but I bought you a gift. You may like this."

James looked at the box with a frown, and then looked at the logo on it. He guessed what it was, but he did not take it.

Zena sighed and opened the box. It was a pair of cufflinks. Except for some differences at the sides, the cufflinks seemed to be similar to the one Elizabeth bought for James.

James just pretending to raised his hand to get the box, but withdrew his hand when it was about to touch it.

But even it was just a simple action. Zena had understood. She tightened her lips. Because she saw that there was already a pair of similar cufflinks on his wrist.

"Although you have one, this... I hope you accept it. After all, it's my kindness." There was a tinge of bitterness in her voice. If it were in the past, he would not be like this, and he would have accepted it at once.

"Well, I appreciate your kindness. You can take it back."

Zena suddenly lost her temper. "Jimmy, what do you mean? Do you want me to kneel down and beg you to accept me?"

James scoffed and said, "That won't be necessary. If I were to bring this thing back, Elizabeth would be unhappy to see it."
