Fortunately, the incident was followed by a weekend. Elizabeth Liang had fully recovered after two days of rest.
When she was cooking on Sunday, James Lu, who was also resting at home, made her lower the number to four dishes and a soup in the name of reducing waste.
This was fantastic news for Elizabeth. This meant that she would be less tired and a little less poor.
During the school's lunchtime on Monday, Evelyn Wu couldn't stop sighing as she looked at the food on her cafeteria plate.
"What are you sighing for, Evelyn?"
"I thought I would be eating nothing but gourmet food from now on, turns out I'm back at it again with the cafeteria crap." After having Elizabeth's home-made meals for days, Evelyn didn't get used to school lunch.
Elizabeth smiled. "I prefer it this way. You have no idea how hard it was to cook so much every single day."
"Well I'm glad you're having it easy." Evelyn sighed and shook her head. "It's just a pity for my tummy."
"Screw you!"
"But since your future husband has loosened your duties, you can totally just wake up and make food in the morning now, right? Do you want me to pitch in for the expenses?"
"No thank you, I don't want to wake up that early." Elizabeth said, and then asked, "Evelyn, have you had any good news about my part-time job yet? My money is running out."
"I'm..." Evelyn was just about to answer, when she looked up and saw the man standing behind Elizabeth. Evelyn frowned and pouted at her, "Elizabeth, behind you."
"What?" Elizabeth turned around and looked at the man. Her eyebrows twisted together.
"Elizabeth, let's talk."
"What do you want?"
After finding a relatively quiet place outside of the cafeteria, Elizabeth looked at the man standing in front of her. Although she was surprised to see him, she felt none of the joy that she used to.
"Elizabeth, I know you don't want to see me, but you are my childhood friend. It's perfectly reasonable for me to visit you, isn't it?" Theodore Chao said.
Elizabeth wanted to laugh, and she did. His words were unbelievably ironic. Thinking of how he framed her along with her uncle's family, she supposed it was pretty reasonable for him to at least give her a visit.
"I might've been able to believe you in the past, Theodore, but I'm sure you're not just here today for a visit."
Elizabeth was confident that she knew Theodore Chao rather well since they've been together for years. He's with Josephine Liang now, the daughter of the new owner of Liang Enterprises, which was the company that the Chao Group was working with. In order to avoid rumours, he would never meet Elizabeth if he didn't have to. She doubted that she was charming enough for him to risk it. After all, he was already cheating on her with Josephine while she was still the Liang company heiress, why would he reconnect with her after she's fallen from grace?
Theodore's face twisted at Elizabeth's words. Seeing how direct she was being, he also gave up talking in circles. "Are you really dating James Lu, Elizabeth?"
"Isn't it none of your business?"
Theodore replied, "Elizabeth, I know you hate me, but I honestly just want to warn you that you shouldn't be messing around with someone like James Lu. If you did this just to piss me off, it wasn't worth it, it wasn't worth sacrificing your happiness. I won't even mention what a far cry your current status is from his, but don't you find it strange that he hasn't had a girlfriend in years? I've heard rumors, that he has a woman he's loved for years whom he takes great care of..."
