They finished dinner together in a relaxing atmosphere. John put down his chopsticks and looked at James, "Do you have anything to do later?"
James nodded, "No." He was not busy with work these days. Moreover, he had done what he wanted to do, no matter what the result was.
"Okay, you and Elizabeth come to my study later. I have something to tell you."
When Elizabeth heard her name, she didn't know why John wanted to talk to her and James. She glanced at James, and James winked at her to ask her not to worry. Then he nodded to John, "I see, dad."
John took the lead in going to the study. Lydia smiled at James and Elizabeth, 'Til go up first. You two come up quickly."
Elizabeth stared at the bowl in front of her, "James, what do you think... dad wants to talk to us?"
"I don't know." James said truthfully, "But... it shouldn't be something bad."
"Really?" Elizabeth was a little uncertain. To be honest, she was a little nervous.
"Of course." James nodded, 'Tve been living with dad for almost thirty years. If he's really unhappy or annoyed, he wouldn't look like that."
"Well..." Elizabeth pursed her lips, "Forget it. Let's go up."
"Alright."
As soon as they entered the study, they saw that John was sitting in the chair behind the desk, while Lydia was fiddling with a pot of plant beside the desk. Seeing them come in, John nodded and said, "Sit down."
James pulled Elizabeth to sit down on the sofa, "Dad, why did you ask us to come here?"
Lydia rolled her eyes at James, "Why are you in such a hurry? Just sit down. Your father will tell you."
James raised his eyebrows and remained silent, playing with Elizabeth's hand.
"You're married now." John said, "You held a wedding ceremony yesterday. There hasn't been such a happy event in our family for so many years. Lydia and I are very relieved to see you two get married."
Hearing this, James raised his head and looked at John. He listened to him very carefully, but he did not say anything.
"There were too many people at the wedding yesterday, so I couldn't announce this at your wedding. I have discussed with Lydia, and it's better for us to talk at home."
After that, John stood up and took the documents pouch that he had placed on the desk. Then, he walked towards James and Elizabeth.
"Elizabeth." John did not sit down and only stood there.
"Dad?" Elizabeth looked at John a little nervously.
"You don't have to be nervous. I asked you to come here today because I want to give this to you." Saying this, John handed the documents pouch to Elizabeth.
