"If you run to mom every time someone bullies you, how are you gonna get a girlfriend?" Hannah said.
Farley didn't respond.
Awkwardness filled the air. Cornelia was amused by Hannah and Farley's banter. Clearly, they got along really well. That was something she didn't have.
Cornelia finally found Tahlia, but before they could really settle into life together, Tahlia left. Every time she thought of Tahlia, Marcus would creep into her mind.
When she really thought about it, it had been half a month since she and Marcus split. They hadn't crossed paths since their last court meeting.
This was what she wanted, but in the depths of the night, feelings she shouldn't have would creep up on her.
Suddenly, her phone started buzzing non-stop. Cornelia took out her phone, and a bunch of messages from a strange number flooded her screen.
The first one read: [I told you, Marcus and Jeremy are not the same person, but you didn't believe me.]
The second one read: [Watch the video I sent you, you'll see the real Marcus.]
Then, a video was sent.
Without hesitation, Cornelia deleted all the messages and blocked the number. Shortly after, another strange number called.
Cornelia guessed it was probably Brennen. She didn't want to listen to his nonsense, so she hung up. But he kept calling, even when he had to switch numbers.
Cornelia couldn't take it anymore, so she picked up, "Who is this?"
On the other end, sure enough, Brennen's voice came through, "You know damn well who this is, why ask?"
