Looking at that guy, he was totally into Nelly.
In a hushed tone, Patricia said to Granny Luisa over the phone, "Granny Luisa, Augustine has brought a guy home for Nelly to meet."
Granny Luisa was taken aback, "What's the rush? Nelly's a catch, plenty of guys would want to marry her. Can't we give her more time to make a choice?"
Patricia peeked from the corner, "Granny Luisa, the thing is, this guy is not only good looking, but he's also tall. You can tell even when he's sitting. He's very charming and polite too."
Granny Luisa was uneasy but tried to comfort herself and Patricia, "Nelly and Marc are over now. If she meets another good guy, we should be happy for her."
Patricia added, "He seems great, but he's no Marc."
Granny Luisa replied, "It was Marc's loss for letting Nelly go."
Patricia stated worriedly, "Granny Luisa, if Nelly finds a new partner now, what about the baby in her belly..."
Thinking about the possibility of losing Cornelia and her unborn child, Granny Luisa sighed, "I haven't heard from Marcus in a while, I wonder what he's up to."
Patricia guessed, "Probably with that woman."
Granny Luisa fell silent.
Patricia urged, "Granny Luisa, we can't just let Nelly make this decision alone, right? At least, we can't let her start dating before she makes up her mind."
Granny Luisa said, "The doctor I sent is on his way. He'll be there soon."
Patricia argued, "Granny Luisa, why can't you think for yourself for once? If not for yourself, think about Marc. I think Marc really likes Nelly. The way he looks at her is different, his smile is more genuine when she's around. Maybe he just made a mistake and he'll realize it soon."
Granny Luisa chuckled, "Who says I haven't thought about myself? No one has forever to wait for someone to amend their mistakes."
Patricia asked, "Granny Luisa, are we really going to let Nelly abort the baby?"
Granny Luisa didn't want to, but she also didn't want to bind Cornelia, "When Nelly first came to Riverton for school, I liked her at first sight. I thought it'd be great if she could marry Marc. So, I often praised my grandson to Nelly's granny. And eventually, she believed me.
“When Nelly graduated from college, I proposed marriage to her granny who agreed without much thought. I promised her that my grandson was a good man who would take good care of Nelly. She entrusted Nelly to us without any worry. But what actually happened? My grandson went abroad right after their marriage and didn't return for a year. When he finally did, he wanted a divorce from Nelly.
“Nelly's granny passed away because of our family issues, leaving her without any family. Nelly never blamed us for her granny's death. She continued to live each day to fulfill her granny's last wish. She even tried hard to get pregnant. I knew how much she wanted a child with Marc and how much she wanted me to hold my great-grandchild. She wouldn't want me to leave this world with regrets like her granny. She has always been a kind and filial girl who puts us elders first. I didn't expect Marc to disappoint her, and their marriage ended in divorce. We owe Nelly so much. I have no right to ask her to do more for us.”
