Grandpa Augustine was getting edgy, "Cornelia, are you still hung up on that jerk who betrayed you? I know Marcus was a catch, but what's it worth when he doesn't even have you in his heart?"
Hearing this, Cornelia felt a pang in her heart. She knew Marcus didn't have her in his heart. She didn't need anyone to remind her.
Noticing the pain in Cornelia's eyes, Jarvis quickly cut in, "Grandpa Augustine, I personally think luck plays a big part in whether two people end up together. It's not like we can just pair up because our parents want us to. Despite pushing thirty, I still don't have plans to tie the knot. I'm just here to fulfill a duty assigned by the elders."
Hearing that the guy was on the same page and also had no plans to marry, Cornelia breathed a sigh of relief, "You're right, Jarvis. Fate and feelings for each other matter a lot."
Cornelia's sincerity was not lost on Jarvis, but he chose to remain silent.
Grandpa Augustine glared at Jarvis, "Jarvis, you didn't say that before you came here. You changed your tune after meeting Cornelia. Is it because you don't like the look of my granddaughter? Or do you think she's beneath you because she's divorced?"
Jarvis responded, "Grandpa Augustine, you've got the wrong idea about me. I'm not that kind of guy. How about this? Cornelia and I can exchange contact information and start off as friends."
Patricia was listening from the side. She noticed how quickly he transitioned from calling her Ms. Stewart to Cornelia.
Started off as friends? The look in his eyes when he looked at Cornelia hardly screamed 'just friends'. Cornelia was no fool. She must have seen through him. She couldn't be fooled by him.
Without giving Cornelia a chance to respond, Jarvis immediately took out his phone, "Cornelia, can you give me your contact information?"
The phone was already in front of her. Cornelia instinctively took it.
Looking at the name on the social media account, Jarvis chuckled. "Nelly? That's a cute name."
Cornelia responded, "Only my friends call me that. You can just call me Cornelia."
