Jarvis quipped with a grin, "If I wasn't smart, how could I possibly be good enough for your granddaughter?"
"Off you go then." Grandpa Augustine waved him off.
No sooner had Jarvis stepped out, the door to Cornelia's room swung open.
Grandpa Augustine quickly headed towards Cornelia's room. Over the past period, Cornelia's condition had not only not improved, but had worsened. Her face was covered in red patches, the whole of it, looking utterly terrible.
Greatly worried, Grandpa Augustine asked, "Nelly, didn't the doc give you any meds? Why are you getting worse?"
Dr. Charlie answered, "Grandpa Augustine, due to Nelly's condition, we can't just give her any drugs now. We'll have to endure it with her. It'll pass soon."
Dr. Charlie had just tested Cornelia with a pregnancy test strip. The two red lines on the strip, indicating positive, pretty much confirmed that Cornelia was indeed pregnant.
Cornelia was pregnant, and the medicine Dr. Lester prescribed had hormones, which pregnant women couldn't take. Dr. Charlie wasn't well-versed with allergic reactions, so he suggested Cornelia to tough it out, and it would get better.
"What sort of condition doesn't allow for taking medication?" Grandpa Augustine asked.
"I, uh..." Dr. Charlie started.
"Dr. Charlie." Cornelia, itchy and scratching at her neck, scratched out two bloody marks, "I'm not refusing to endure, it's that I can't. Grandpa Augustine, I'm feeling awful, so breathless, please take me to the..."
Before she could finish her sentence, Cornelia feebly collapsed onto the floor. Fortunately, both Grandpa Augustine and Patricia were by her side and managed to catch her in time.
"Jarvis!" Grandpa Augustine shouted out.
