Impulsive Vow to an Enigmatic Husband novel Chapter 1410

Hannah asked, "Why?"

Jarvis answered, "Because the Hartley Group went bankrupt. Marcus is flat broke and up to his eyeballs in debt. So he pulled a fast one and faked his own death to skip out on his bills. Don't you think people like him who fake their deaths and change their names to dodge debts should be looked down upon? I just can't wrap my head around why Cornelia still sticks up for him. Has she been bamboozled by him?"

Hannah didn't say anything for a moment.

Jarvis went on, "I gotta have a chat with Old Augustine about this. Get him to dig into whether Cornelia's been hoodwinked by Marcus. How could she possibly still be so into this guy and so protective of him?"

Hannah said, "Maybe it's because you're an outsider. You only see the side of Marcus he wants you to see. As for what he's really like, I believe no one knows better than Cornelia." She had known Cornelia for so long and knew her personality well. If Cornelia was that protective of Marcus, he must have something going for him.

Jarvis said, "I gotta go. I need to call Old Augustine."

In a rush, Hannah said, "Jarvis, I'm in a tight spot right now. Can't you stop poking your nose into Cornelia and her husband's business? To be honest, not only does Cornelia think her husband is great, but I also think he's pretty solid."

Jarvis asked, "Is he better than me?"

Hannah said, "Do you want the truth?"

Jarvis said, "I don't want to hear anything unpleasant."

Hannah said, "If you don't want to hear it, then quit comparing yourself to Marcus. We should be focusing on our deal."
