"Marc, don't get excited.." Dr. Dawson signaled the other doctors to leave. "I'm here to tell you what's going on."
"Go ahead!" His tone was icy, as if to warn Dr. Dawson that he wouldn't be polite to her if she couldn't give a reasonable explanation.
Dr. Dawson said, "Haven't you noticed that Cornelia has been acting weird since Skyler's accident?"
Of course, Marcus had noticed. Cornelia didn't know Skyler very well, but she was overly concerned about him, even more so than Zavier.
Seeing that his mood had stabilized, Dr. Dawson continued, "If I'm not mistaken, I think Skyler's incident triggered some bad memories for Cornelia."
"Blood, so much blood, no, no," Cornelia suddenly cried out in fear from the hospital bed. Her hands were flailing around unconsciously. "Don't grab me, don't grab me."
Her reaction seemed to confirm Dr. Dawson's words.
Marcus grabbed her flailing hands and pulled her into his arms. "Don't be afraid, Cornelia. I'm here. Nothing is going to happen."
Marcus' concern for Cornelia was beyond Dr. Dawson's understanding. She needed to pay more attention to Cornelia's situation. "Cornelia's father died in a car accident. Maybe you can ask her grandma about the details. We need to find the root of her nightmares and solve the problem."
Marcus gently patted Cornelia's back, his voice as soft as if he were comforting a child. "Don't be afraid, Cornelia. I'm here. Nothing will happen."
She was asleep and couldn't hear what he said.
Marcus thought for a moment, took out his personal phone, and texted Cornelia as Jeremy, "Cornelia, don't be afraid of anything from now on. I'll be your strongest support."
