Steven was struck dumb, as if by a bolt from the blue, and it took him a while to regain his composure. He sent a friend request, [Hannah, why did you delete me again?]
[Hannah, add me back on WhatsApp. Can we talk this out?]
[Hannah, you said last night that you would treat me better.]
[Hannah, you can't just go back on your word.]
[Hannah.]
Without any response to his first request, Steven sent two, three, and up to a hundred messages, yet still received no reply from Hannah. He finally realized that when a woman turned cold, she could be even more ruthless than a man.d2
He felt relieved that he had taken precautions, ensuring that even if they had been intimate during Hannah's ovulation period, she couldn't get pregnant. After a while, once Hannah was sure she wasn't pregnant, she would need him again.
But then, a terrifying thought flashed in Steven's mind. What if Hannah didn't conceive a child this time and questioned his fertility, and she went to get another man to have a baby...
The thought sent a chill down his spine. He immediately grabbed his phone and dialed Rick's number, "Rick, listen to me. Tell the guys you've got watching Hannah. They need to report back to me if she's seen with any man. If they miss even one, you're out."
Rick answered, "Yes, Mr. Steven, I'll take care of it."
Thank God, he wasn't being asked to come back to work immediately. He was still at his fiancée's house, trying to win over his future in-laws, who weren't entirely pleased with him so far. He had to keep trying, and he couldn't leave now.
But just as Rick thought this, Steven called again, "Get over to Haines, now."
