The look of anger on her face was a dead giveaway that something was up, yet she stubbornly denied anything.
Marcus chimed in again, "Spill it. Don't keep it bottled up."
"Do you really not know what you did?" Cornelia wanted to challenge him, but the doorbell rang before she could get a word in.
Assuming it was Briana, she quickly got up to answer the door, only to find Dr. Dawson standing there.
Dr. Dawson greeted her before quickly approaching Marcus. "Marc, where did you injure yourself?"
"Nothing serious, just woke up with a sore leg this morning." Marcus rolled up his pants, revealing a sturdy calf adorned with two sizable bruises that caught Dr. Dawson's attention.
Cornelia noticed them too. If she had to guess, those bruises were the result of her kicking him last night.
She clenched her teeth, silently thinking, "Serves you right!"
Dr. Dawson promptly retrieved a tube of ointment from his medical kit. "Did you fall? Or did you bump into something?"
Marcus scratched his head. "Got drunk last night, can't really remember."
Cornelia couldn't help but mock him internally. So, being drunk was a good enough reason to mistake another woman for his wife? And to casually hold her?
While applying the ointment, Dr. Dawson remarked, "These bruises are deep. You must have been really intoxicated not to feel the pain. I've warned you countless times about your alcohol intolerance, yet you continue to drink as if you don't care about your health."
At this point, Dr. Dawson glanced at Cornelia. "Cornelia, you're the closest to Marc. You need to keep an eye on him. Don't let him consume alcohol or eat anything too spicy."
Before Dr. Dawson could finish his sentence, Marcus interrupted him coldly, "If I want to drink, can Cornelia stop me? Don't put all the blame on her."
