Courtney said, "Marc, I know I've been ignoring your and Bri's feelings and I've realized my mistakes. I want a chance to make things right. Can you give your mother that chance?"
Marcus snorted, "You think you deserve that chance?"
Courtney said, "Even if you don't want to forgive me, you should at least bring Cornelia to meet me once. You two have been married for almost two years, and she has never formally met your family. Do you not want her to meet your family because you're still keeping your options open?"
"Courtney, don't try to use Cornelia to get what you want. She's not someone you can mess with easily," Marcus gripped his phone tightly, his voice suddenly turning cold, "Don't forget, you have people you care about too."
Courtney said, "The last time I was in China looking for Cornelia, was because I heard she was cheating on you, and I just wanted to help you blow off steam. Now I've realized my mistakes and I'll treat her well in the future."
"She is my wife. I'll take good care of her myself. I don't need your fake kindness!" Marcus hung up the call.
After hanging up, he saw a message from Cornelia to Jeremy and felt a bit puzzled, but his heart warmed up in an instant, "Cornelia, why are you saying this all of a sudden?"
Cornelia replied quickly, "Nothing much, I just wanted to tell you. We’re a couple; you're not alone. You have me. If there's anything you can't share with others, you can tell me. I'm willing to be your most loyal confidante."
Cornelia's message was long, but Marcus only focused on this sentence, "You're not alone, you have me!"
It was a short sentence, but it meant a lot to Marcus.
