Impulsive Vow to an Enigmatic Husband novel Chapter 351

"Love is the accumulation of fate and the time we invest in each other," Cornelia was confused as to why Marcus had suddenly become so stern, instinctively leaning towards the car window.

Marcus realized his tone might have frightened her, so he quickly adjusted his mood, trying to speak to her calmly. "I know you guys grew up together and are very close, but you're adults now, especially you, you're married. You should maintain a proper distance. Who you get close to is your business; he can't interfere."

"Are you aware there's a difference between men and women and that married men and women need to keep a certain distance? I thought you didn’t know." Not satisfied with just arguing in her mind, Cornelia used his own words against him, "You say others are nosier than my husband, but you're just as bad. Me video chatting with a childhood friend is my private matter. It seems like it's none of your business."

"I’m not trying to control you, I'm just..." The word “jealous” almost slipped out of Marcus' mouth, and realizing his emotions left him somewhat astounded.

He knew very well that there couldn't be anything romantic between Cornelia and Zack, so why was he being so petty? If Cornelia had to completely give up her previous life and her old friends because of their marriage, it would hurt her, and he couldn't bear to hurt his wife.

"Cornelia, I'm sorry!" He called her name, sincerely apologizing, then added, “Even if Jeremy entrusted me to look after you, it's not my place to interfere in your video call with your friend."

Cornelia didn't say anything else to him.

The car continued heading home, and the two fell silent again, restoring the quietness inside the car.

Cornelia turned her head to watch the snowflakes falling outside the window. As she watched, she began to feel sleepy and dozed off, leaning on the seat.

Marcus immediately turned up the temperature inside the car, ensuring she wouldn't feel cold while asleep.
