Impulsive Vow to an Enigmatic Husband novel Chapter 386

What really grinded her gears was their son. He was already ten but still ransacked her room, opening up her newly bought skincare products and spilling them all over the place.

Abigail was fuming and confronted his mother, but the woman defended her son, "What, did you put gold or some treasures in these skincare products so that they’re worth 1000 bucks? Abby, I might not be the savviest person, but you can't pull the wool over my eyes."

Abigail shoved the empty bottle in her face, "Me, deceive you? Can't you see for yourself? Google it and you'll know that this serum alone is worth 1000 bucks."

"A thousand bucks for a serum? Is it really that expensive?" The woman refused to admit it verbally, but she was thinking to herself that Abigail looked younger every year; it must be because of these pricey skincare products. If her man would buy her such expensive skincare, she too could look more beautiful each year.

Abigail said, "You owe me!"

The woman responded, "Abby, he's your brother. You're blood-related; he just spilled a few of your skincare products. Who taught you to make a fuss like this?”

Just a few skincare products?

Abigail was so pissed off by this shameless woman that she almost laughed, "Yeah, just a few skincare products, so why don't you pay up?"

She sat there leisurely, munching on sunflower seeds and watching TV, "I don't have the money; you should ask the person who broke it to pay."

Abigail knew this woman too well that getting compensation from her would be harder than reaching for the stars. In the past, she would swallow her anger under her mother's persuasion, but this year she had to make her understand the consequences; otherwise, it would happen again next year, "Get over here!"

The boy was holding a chicken leg with his dirty hands, "I'm eating my chicken, no time."

Abigail stormed over and snatched the chicken leg from his hands, "If you don't pay me back today, you're not eating anything in my house."

He threw himself on the ground and started to wail, "Mom, Abigail hit me."

His mother feigned concern, "Well, you shouldn't have messed up your sister's skincare products; you deserved a lesson."

Abigail grabbed him, ready to give him a good beating. His mother saw this, rushed over, and shielded the boy, "Abigail, your brother is just a child. How could you hit him?"

Abigail said, "He's already ten! Ten! If you don't discipline him now, society will when he grows up!"

"Abigail, what's with the attitude?" She knew Abigail and Cornelia were close, so she intentionally raised her voice, "I know you're a good kid; you must have picked up these bad habits from Cornelia. Abby, I'm telling you, you need to keep your distance from Cornelia. Don't let her lead you astray!"

"What are you talking about? We're discussing skincare products; don't drag the conversation off-topic." Abigail might be cool-headed about other things, but she couldn’t keep her composure when it came to Cornelia.

She knew mentioning Cornelia would infuriate Abigail, so she kept bringing her up, "Cornelia came home last time, hanging out with some bad boys, and even got her uncle locked up for a few days, causing her grandmother to cut ties with her uncle. She's always been a troublemaker, bringing misfortune to her mother since birth. Her father died when she was young and even her grandmother fell ill because of her. Anyone involved with her will end up in trouble; you better keep your distance."
