Impulsive Vow to an Enigmatic Husband novel Chapter 517

Back in the day, people were always saying Cornelia was a bad omen, claiming some fortune-telling gibberish linking her parents' death to her fate.

Hearing such nasty rumors, as a kid, was like a lifelong shadow dangling over her head. Even though Cornelia's granny kept telling her not to listen to all that trash talk, that it had nothing to do with her, it was already too late.

The hurtful words had already taken root deep in Cornelia's heart, impossible to dig out.

In a stern tone, Cornelia's granny cut her off, "Cornelia, I've told you a million times not to listen to their baseless rumors. Why do you still take it to heart? They're just saying things out of spite. Got it?"

Cornelia, "But..."

Gently rubbing her head, Cornelia's granny said, "If you want your father to rest easy in Heaven, then you need to live your life well. As long as you're happy, your father will be at peace."

"Alright, I'll live my life well." Cornelia knew the best way to pay respect was to live a good life. However, she still blamed herself, still wondered if things would've been different if she wasn't in the car that day.

But, there are no what-ifs in life.

Cornelia's granny was in poor health and couldn't walk far. She sat down with Cornelia, "So, how are things going between you and Jeremy?"

Both of them were constantly traveling for work, even unable to meet on Christmas. They probably didn't see each other often.

Every time she thought about it, Cornelia's granny got worried, "Even the strongest marriage can be strained by long-distance. I'm afraid one day he'll be swept off his feet by another woman."
