Cornelia asked, "What's wrong with him?""
Briana replied, ""I'm not really sure what's up, I just heard from Dr. Dawson that he's sick and in the hospital. Cornelia, would you mind coming with me to visit my brother at the hospital?""
That morning, Cornelia saw Marcus getting all cozy with Natalia at the Riverside Terrace Club, and then he got sick in the evening. Was it because he usually kept his desires on a leash and let loose all of a sudden, his body just couldn't handle it?
If that's the case, Cornelia thought Marcus deserved it.
But his wife, she was really getting the short end of the stick. He was out there messing around, and when his health took a hit, those women wouldn't be there for him. The burden of caring for him fell onto Dr. Dawson and his wife.
The more Cornelia thought about it, the more sickened she felt, ""Bri, I'm currently at Southern Peak, and it's not convenient for me to accompany you to visit President Hartley. If I return to Riverton and President Hartley is still in the hospital, I'll visit him then."
"You're at Southern Peak? Can't you come back tonight?" After asking, Briana didn't even let Cornelia answer, "There are still train tickets from Southern Peak to Riverton. It's a quick ride. Cornelia, just hurry back. I'll pick you up at the train station."
Briana was so enthusiastic, it was kind of hard to say no to her. But every time Cornelia thought about Marcus's actions this morning, she felt sick to her stomach. She didn't want to see him before she had a chance to adjust her mindset. And her going to the hospital in the middle of the night as an outsider would only cause trouble. "Bri, I need to stay with my grandma, I'm really sorry."
Briana nodded disappointingly, "Alright then. Cornelia, you rest up, I'll hang up now."
It was a shame, Cornelia was always worried about Jeremy, and she sounded like she was on the verge of tears on the phone. But when she heard about Marcus being sick and in the hospital, she didn't seem worried or sympathetic at all, and wasn't willing to go with her to visit him.
