Abigail was tidying up, chatting away, "Our new place has got its own study, and the bookshelf is massive. We won't have any issues with storage for our books."
Cornelia chimed in, "Yeah, once we move in, we can just splurge on books. Lots and lots of books."
Zack dropped in, "I saw a rare book online the other day, and it was so good it had me drooling. Guess how much the seller was asking?"
Cornelia and Abigail asked, "How much?"
Zack held up a hand, "This figure!"
Cornelia and Abigail asked, "Five thousand?"
Zack clutched his chest, "Fifty thousand!"
Abigail exclaimed, "Why doesn't he just rob a bank? Good books should be shared with people who can appreciate them. If they end up with someone who doesn't, isn't that just a waste?"
Cornelia kept repeating, "Fifty thousand? Fifty thousand? That's pricier than the study I saw." She thought of the study in Marcus' Celestial Chateau. Clearly, not only was the construction cost high, but the rare books inside were worth a fortune.
Abigail asked, "What are you talking about?"
Cornelia explained, "I've seen one of Marcus' studies. It's like a library, filled with rare books we've never heard of. If each book is worth fifty thousand, then the books in his study could be worth millions."
Abigail was shocked, "Oh my God!"
Cornelia added, "If he ever lets me borrow his study, I might lock myself in there for months."
Zack was frustrated, "We're nothing compared to these rich people. Even their books are better than ours. He's got all these rare books. Does he even read them? Or are they just for show?"
Cornelia replied, "He definitely reads them. I borrowed a rare book from him once, and there were some words I didn't understand. So I had to look at the footnotes. But he knew them all. He's like a walking encyclopedia."
