She came to take care of him, but in the end it was him taking care of her. Cornelia felt pretty guilty, "If you're not into the dinner the chef prepared. Just tell me what you fancy, I can cook it for you."
Marcus actually wanted to taste her home cooking, but he didn't want to tire her out, "No need, I've got Finn coming over to cook tonight. Make sure you eat plenty."
Cornelia nodded, "Alright."
Patricia was already waiting in the dining room. Seeing Cornelia, she immediately pulled out a chair for her, "Nelly, sit down. I'll get you some soup."
"Patricia, let me help you serve the dishes." Patricia had a high status in the Hartley family. She even raised Marcus when he was little. Considering her age, Cornelia didn't want her to do all the work alone.
"Nelly, it's fine. You just sit and enjoy your meal." To Patricia, this was her job. She believed in doing it well since she was paid for it. If they wouldn't even let her do these things, then she didn't need to stay here. She didn't even know where she would go.
Marcus understood Patricia's feelings. He told Cornelia to sit down, "If Patricia tells you to sit, you sit. Don't worry about anything else."
Cornelia had no choice but to sit down obediently.
Tonight's dinner was really fancy. All the high-end dishes Cornelia wanted to eat but was too stingy to buy. After Finn's magic touch, Cornelia felt totally satisfied, "Mr. Hartley, Finn's cooking skills are top-notch. How come the same abalone tastes so good when he cooks it?"
Seeing her enjoy her meal so much, Marcus was also pleased, "If you like it, eat more."
Cornelia looked up at him, "Mr. Hartley, why aren't you eating? Don't you like these dishes? If you can't eat them, I can cook something else for you."
"No need, I can eat." Marcus didn't really have an appetite. But to avoid worrying Cornelia, he picked up his utensils and slowly started eating.
