Just a few minutes ago.
Clair was basking in the compliments of the rich ladies.
Rich Lady A said, "I heard last year that some mysterious tycoon splashed out 30 million bucks to get his wife a necklace called 'Heavenly Radiance', symbolizing eternal love. I've been wondering who this big spender was, who could casually drop 30 million on a necklace, turns out it was Mr. Reese."
Rich Lady B chimed in, "Mr. Reese's love for his wife is well-known in Riverton. I don't find it surprising at all that he'd spend big bucks on his beloved."
Rich Lady C asked, "Do you know why Mr. Reese is so generous?"
The other rich ladies cooperatively asked, "Why?"
Rich Lady C looked at Clair, "Of course, because of Mrs. Reese's beauty. Come closer, take a good look. Mrs. Reese is not only beautiful but also looks very young, we can't see a single wrinkle on her face even though we're so close to her."
Clair was in her forties, indeed well-maintained, but no matter how well you took care of yourself, you can't defy nature rules, there were still some wrinkles on her face.
Everyone was blindly complimenting; Clair was over the moon, almost forgetting who she was, "I told my hubby many times not to waste money on these jewels. But he wouldn't listen and said that my good mood was priceless."
Clair had achieved her current status by wrecking Mr. Reese's original marriage. Everyone in Riverton's rich circle knew about it, but society had always been superficial.
As long as the Reese Group didn't go belly up, and as long as Clair was Mrs. Reese, no one cared how she got her status. They would only flock around her to compliment her.
While they were chatting, they heard chatter about Marcus nearby.
"Word is that President Hartley showed up with his wife, they're in the drop-off area right now."
"What? Marcus and his wife?"
"Yeah, those who've seen them say she's absolutely stunning, and doesn't pale in comparison standing next to him."
