Deep down, Leonardo knew that he and Cornelia were neither husband and wife, nor lovers.
Cornelia had never looked at him as a man, and that was probably the second reason.
The more Leonardo thought about it, the angrier he got. What pissed him off even more was that Cornelia, the one who was causing him all this grief, didn't care at all. "Every girl has their period every month, what's the big deal?"
While Leonardo was speechless, Ryan burst out laughing. "Leonardo, this is the first time I've ever seen a girl leave you speechless. It's quite a sight to see."
Leonardo, "Get lost!"
Ryan tried to suppress his laughter, "Alright, I'll stop laughing at you."
Cornelia put down her fork, "Do any of you know when the banquet is going to start? I'm starving. I want some real food."
Maybe it was because she had traveled with Marcus and tasted all kinds of delicacies, she had become too picky about food. The regular pastries that were made in large batches just didn't appeal to her. After eating a few, she felt sick.
Ryan, "The Reese family's banquets are always a hassle. Young people usually don't want to come a second time. Even party-lover Briana didn't come. If it weren't for Marcus, you wouldn't see us here tonight either."
Cornelia, "We're not going to wait another two hours to eat, are we?"
Ryan, "We might as well go out and eat. If you can't stand the hunger, let's go. I'll treat you."
Leonardo, "Ryan, why are you so nice to Cornelia?"
Ryan, "Because her husband is my good friend. I'm looking out for her on his behalf."
Leonardo, "Why would I not know her husband if you do?"
Ryan, "No one said you didn't."
