Today, Marcus only had one item on his agenda. With the originally planned lunch meeting being canceled, Cornelia had a two-hour lunch break.
After having lunch in the company cafeteria, Cornelia returned to her office, intending to call the cop in charge to ask about the progress of the investigation into the vandalism at the studio. However, Ben walked over and looked at her as if he was looking at a stranger, "Cornelia."
Cornelia felt a bit uncomfortable and nudged her chair back a bit, "Spit it out, dude. No need to invade my personal space."
Ben said, "Anything going on between you and President Hartley that I'm not aware of?"
"What are you blabbing about!" Cornelia stuttered a bit, thinking that Ben had figured something out.
Who knew Ben would continue, "How'd you pluck up the courage to advise President Hartley in that situation? And the kicker is, he actually took your advice. I was wondering, did you meet the president's wife and get some secret method to control President Hartley from her?"
Cornelia was taken aback. Phew, he didn't figure it out!
Ben said, “Cornelia, if you really did meet the president’s wife and got some tricks to control President Hartley from her, spill the beans to me too.”
Cornelia said, "The method to control is just to treat everyone with genuine kindness."
Ben gave her a speechless look, then asked, "So, can you tell me why President Hartley was ticked off at me this morning? I've been on edge all morning, afraid that one day President Hartley will seriously ship me off to Antarctica."
Not knowing why President Hartley was mad at him in the morning, Ben was always uneasy, worried that the ever-changing mood of Marcus could get him transferred anytime.
Cornelia said, "Didn't President Hartley tell you? He wants you to have confidence, not overconfidence. Stop overthinking, he won't ship you off."
Ben asked, "How am I overconfident?"
