Briana came to a harsh reality that Cornelia was not just unreliable, but also had her puppet strings.
"Cornelia, don't you love me anymore?" Briana quickly adjusted her mood, deciding to use her own tactics to recapture Cornelia's attention. "I know I've never been a likable kid, and I can understand if you don't love me. From now till dinner, you guys should just ignore me while I go find a corner to cry for a couple of hours."
This worked on Cornelia, but Marcus couldn't care less. "Alright, go find a place to cry then, just don't get in the way of Cornelia and I."
Briana didn't respond, only giving Cornelia a tearful look.
And with that look, Cornelia's heart melted. She immediately hugged Briana, shooting a look at Marcus, "Stop being so mean to her, she's your sister. Can't you be nice to her?"
Marcus knew Cornelia was a softie, "This kid's a pro actor. Don't let her fool you."
Cornelia was aware of Briana's acting skills and knew she was just trying to draw attention, "Even if she's acting, it's not a big deal. The squeaky wheel gets the grease."
"Cornelia, you get me!" Briana immediately took Cornelia by the hand. "Cornelia, let me show you the gift I prepared for you."
"Okay." Cornelia was about to follow Briana, but then thought of Marcus. "President Hartley, you go chat with grandma downstairs for the moment, I'll be back after checking out what Bri has for me."
Marcus didn't say anything, but he wasn't thrilled about it. He had to warn Briana not to keep taking his wife away.
