Cornelia watched Zack's awkward expression while her mind wandered elsewhere. "Abby, do you know any suitable girls? Maybe you could introduce one to Zack? Judging by his condition today, I feel like he's looking for a girlfriend."
Abigail replied, "It's not that he's looking for a girlfriend. Zack's just worried about you. He's afraid of you getting hurt, afraid of you being bullied, and afraid of you getting your heart broken all over again."
"I'm really happy right now. And those irrelevant people can't hurt me. You guys really don't need to worry about me." Cornelia understood Zack's concerns, but sometimes you have to learn to let go and start over. Who knew? Things might turn out differently.
Like today, when Zack and Abigail saw Roman come looking for her, they were so tense, afraid he'd hurt her again. But for Cornelia, that man was long gone from her life. He was a total stranger now. How could he possibly hurt her again?
"Alright, we'll stop fretting over you. Someone else will take care of you from now on." Abigail glanced at Marcus, who was still eating in silence.
Abigail felt a bit disappointed. Hadn't Marcus picked up on her hint? She was trying to get him to promise to take care of Cornelia.
All in all, it was a pretty lousy birthday. They didn't even get to have cake because the birthday boy got too drunk and completely lost consciousness.
In the end, it was Nash who helped Zack to his room.
Abigail had planned to go back to Nash's hometown with him in the afternoon. They had already bought train tickets, so they couldn't stay to look after Zack. So, the responsibility of cleaning up and taking care of Zack fell on Cornelia and Marcus.
After all the eating and drinking, the living room and the kitchen were a complete mess. It would take one person at least an hour or two to clean up.
While Cornelia was cleaning, Marcus made a call and soon a cleaning crew arrived. In no time at all, the house was spotless.
After the cleaning crew left, Cornelia turned to Marcus, "I gotta say, the most powerful spell in the world is money!"
