Cornelia said, "How can I know who's framing me if I don't see them?"
Ben retorted, "Can you confirm it just by looking at them?"
Cornelia said, "Perhaps."
"We've been together for a year, and I know you're not that kind of person. But as for President Hartley, I can't be sure. You need to figure out a solution ASAP. If he gets wind of this, he might not give you a chance to explain, and he could just fire you on the spot. How will you handle that?" As Ben was speaking and searching for information, he suddenly went silent in the middle of his sentence.
A moment passed before Cornelia heard him again, "It's gone! It's all gone!"
Cornelia asked, "What's gone?"
Ben replied, "When I called you, the slanderous messages about you were still spreading. Just in the short time we've been on the phone, there's not a single piece about you on the internet. All the links my coworkers sent, they've all changed. It wasn't a broken link; it was a direct change of content."
At this, Cornelia peered through a crack in the door to see Marcus on the phone. She had a pretty good hunch that the sudden disappearance of the rumors about her had something to do with him.
Wasn't he supposed to be napping with her? When did he find out about the rumors spreading about her?
Meanwhile, Ben had the same thought.
To make all the news on the entire internet disappear in an instant, besides Marcus, Ben really couldn't think of anyone else who could do it.
