Cornelia sighed, "Time flies, huh? In the blink of an eye, we've grown up and granny's hair is all gray."
Zack said, "This Christmas, when I went home, I noticed my parents have a lot of gray hair too. They're only in their forties. In my memory, they're still very young. I don't get it. I've only been away for a year and they seem to have aged so much."
Cornelia said, "When we move to our new place, you can invite your parents over for a while. If you're not busy, you can also go back to Rosenberg to spend some time with them. Life is short, we shouldn't neglect our families."
Zack looked at Cornelia’s despondent expression, "What are you talking about? Marcus has found many renowned doctors. Granny will be fine."
It was exactly because Marcus had found so many doctors that Cornelia was more worried. If Granny’s condition wasn't serious, Marcus wouldn’t need to find so many doctors.
She understood but didn't say it, "When I was a kid, time seemed to crawl. I wanted it to go faster. But when we grow up, time flies, no matter how hard we try to hold on to it. Sometimes, I wish I could go back a few years, so I wouldn’t stay away from home because of people's weird looks, causing me to never go back to Rosenberg to spend Christmas with Granny during my college years.
“Now, I wish every day that time could slow down, or even go back a few years, so I could spend more time with Granny."
As she spoke, tears slid down Cornelia's cheeks. She quickly looked up to hold them back, "This AC is too strong, it's making my eyes watery."
Zack quickly handed her a tissue, "You don't have to put up a brave face in front of me. If you want to cry, just let it out."
Cornelia didn't want to cry, but tears uncontrollably rolled down her cheeks, "Zack, I'm scared. I'm scared I won't have the chance to be with Granny, scared that the room I prepared for her will never be used..."
Zack said, "That won't happen. Granny loves you too much to leave you."
Cornelia, "My dad loved me too, but he still left me."
