Rosie let out a long sigh, saying with a helpless tone, "Everyone thinks Lucas is bossing me around for my own good, but no one really cares about how I feel or what I truly want."
Cornelia suggested, "If you don't want him control you, you could try having a serious chat with him. I think communication is key in any relationship. Any issues should be addressed promptly, or it could cause problems."
Rosie shook her head, "It's no use. I've tried talking to him countless times, telling him to stop meddling in my affairs. I want to take care of my own stuff. But he just laughs it off, thinking I'm throwing a tantrum."
Cornelia pondered for a moment, "Maybe you could try talking to your parents, let them handle Lucas. It might have a different effect."
At the mention of her parents, Rosie shook her head even more, "My parents are the reason Lucas takes care of me."
Cornelia, intrigued, asked, "How so?"
Rosie continued, "Our families have known each other for generations. When I was still in my mother's belly, the elders of both families agreed that if I were a girl, I would be engaged to Lucas. When I was born and turned out to be a girl, the elders were over the moon and immediately arranged a marriage for us. So, even when I was still in my mother's belly, my life was tied to Lucas."
Cornelia said, "I've heard before that you two were engaged from a very young age and have known each other since birth. Didn't think it was actually true. I think it's a rather pure relationship, knowing each other inside and out, and not having to worry about deceit."
Rosie said, "I don't mind growing up together, what I don't like is Lucas treating me like a child. From the moment I was born, they told Lucas, who was only four at the time, that I was the one he would marry and he should treat me well. He's a responsible person, so he promised to take care of me and has been doing so ever since.
“I've been under his care since I was little, got married to him as soon as I was of age, even before I graduated from college. In their eyes, I'm just a spoiled little girl who lives a pampered life, clueless about the hardships of the world. Without Lucas, I wouldn't even survive, so they think it's right for him to control me.
“I've tried expressing my desire for freedom, for making my own decisions, but no one listens. I gradually stopped resisting and became the person they wanted me to be, not working, shopping with Lucas's credit card, buying anything I wanted without considering the price."
Cornelia said, "I'm not sure whether you're complaining or bragging. Your life is what I've been dreaming of."
Hannah chimed in, "Me too."
Rosie continued, "That kind of life is easy, but it's also very empty, especially when Lucas is too busy with work to spend time with me."
Cornelia suggested, "Then you could make more friends. When Lucas is not around, you could go out to eat, have drinks with your friends, that might make your life more fulfilling."
Rosie retorted, "That won't work either. Lucas is very strict about my diet, I absolutely can't eat anything he doesn't allow. The other night, I was having dinner with him and his clients. The table was loaded with gourmet food, but I didn't have any appetite, so I hardly ate anything. After dinner, when he was seeing off his clients. I saw a snack stand nearby. The delicious smell made me hungry, so I went to buy some."
