Impulsive Vow to an Enigmatic Husband novel Chapter 823

Cornelia didn't even dare to voice her suspicion; it was such a monstrous thought. If someone had even an ounce of sympathy left in them, they couldn't possibly do such a thing to their own child.

Cornelia desperately wanted Marcus to deny it, to tell her that she was mistaken, but instead, he nodded heavily.

Cornelia's faith crumbled instantly; she could practically hear her heart shattering. "So..."

"So I had him thrown in jail!" Marcus suddenly laughed, a cold, ruthless gleam in his smile. "If he dares to hurt anyone I care about again, I won't hesitate to chuck him back in."

"I'll support you no matter what," Cornelia said.

That was all he needed to hear! That was exactly what Marcus wanted.

"He went after Bri when she was just a kid," he continued. "That little thug locked her up in a cramped, dark room. The bastard didn't even stop. Instead, he chucked a bunch of snakes in there with her. Left her there for two days..."

These were the things Marcus knew about. There were still things he didn't know, things Briana was too scared to mention even now.

Cornelia reached out carefully, pressing his large hand against her unswollen cheek. "Can we help Bri get through this nightmare together?"

"Yeah," he replied, the word rough and warm as it rolled off his tongue.

Cornelia turned her head, pressing a light kiss to the back of his hand. Marcus was surprised by her action, but he quickly leaned in, seeking her lips, and kissing her softly.
