Cornelia grew up parentless and was often bullied by other kids in elementary school, a fact that both Abigail and Zack were well aware of.
Back then, little Cornelia couldn't defeat those bullies. When others bullied her, she would do just as she did now, telling them that she had her grandmother, and her grandmother would protect her.
But those bully kids wouldn't back off just because of her words. Instead, they'd bully her even more whenever she threatened to tell her Grandma, and they wouldn't even let her go home to snitch.
Luckily, her Grandma spotted something was off and found out about her troubles in school. She talked to the school teachers, and that put an end to the bullying.
In Cornelia's eyes, even though her Grandma was now old and didn't do things as well as Cornelia herself, she was still her hero. Her Granny Rebecca was the superhero who protected her. She was the irreplaceable superhero in her heart!
They all knew how much Granny Rebecca meant to Cornelia. Everyone knew she couldn't bear to face the fact that Granny Rebecca was gone, and they all wished she could accept it sooner and start a new life.
"Zack, Abby, come..." Cornelia walked towards Zack and Abigail, taking each of their hands, "Zack, Abby, my Granny said your parents are working late today and won't be home until late. So, you guys are coming to my place after school. We're going to have dinner and do our homework together."
Both Abigail and Zack turned to look at Marcus.
Marcus made the decision straight away, "Just go along with it for now. She hasn't eaten in hours, just coax her into having a meal."
Abigail and Zack nodded and said to Cornelia, "Let's have dinner first then, we'll do homework afterwards."
