Impulsive Vow to an Enigmatic Husband novel Chapter 993

"If you didn't really like him, you wouldn't care about losing him." Sallie chuckled at Cornelia, "Your husband is such a great guy, and you're with him day in and day out. How could you possibly not like him?"

Cornelia didn't reply, just quietly looking out at the sea of clouds. Sallie was right. If she didn't like him, she wouldn't care if Marcus left her.

The reason she was scared was that she cared about him. She was scared of not being able to spend the rest of her life with him.

Sallie went on, "Cornelia, there's something I want to tell you. Want to hear it?"

Cornelia asked, "What is it?"

Sallie asked, "Do you remember when Marc took you to my studio to buy a dress?"

Cornelia nodded, "I remember."

Sallie said, "I asked him then if he liked you. Guess what he said?"

Cornelia turned to ask, "What did he say?"

Sallie said, "All he said was that you were his wife. I knew then that his feelings for you weren't love, but a sense of responsibility. But today, I asked him the same question and he gave me an unequivocal and serious answer. He said he liked you."

Cornelia knew that Marcus was never stingy about expressing his liking for her, and she understood what Sallie was saying. So she said, "But how long can this liking last?"

Sallie asked, "Don't you trust him?"

Cornelia said, "It's not that I don't trust him. It's just that the human heart is the most unpredictable thing in the world."
