Ludwik also understood his mother's reservations. She was a very gentle and traditional woman, who didn't want to cause him any trouble.
Not to mention his father, who would never accept her identity.
Ludwik strode into the hospital room.
But then Felix suddenly thought of something. Mentioning Natalie, he quickly caught up to Ludwik, hesitated for a moment, and then whispered, "Mr. Lippert, given the Lippert family's current financial difficulties, have you ever considered... the funds you've been saving for Natalie over the past few years, that $200 billion, could we possibly... move it temporarily?"
"Shut your mouth." Ludwik sharply turned, glaring at him with sudden anger, "Don't ever mention that again!"
That money was set aside for his mother's retirement fund, something he had started saving years ago and was off-limits, no matter what.
He had weathered many storms in the business world, always with the thought of securing a safety net for his mother, so she could live comfortably in her old age, even if he were to die.
Felix immediately understood; he had hit Ludwik's breaking point. Even if the Lippert family was on the brink of bankruptcy, Ludwik wouldn't touch Natalie's fund.
He hung his head in resignation.
Ludwik approached the bedside.
Soon, the attending doctor rushed over and was surprised to find that Jason had awakened.
"Ludwik, your father's awake! Jason, slowly open your eyes and follow my fingers," the doctor immediately began checking Jason's senses.
Ludwik furrowed his brows, holding his father's arm, "Dad?"
"I..." With the doctor's help, Jason finally fully opened his eyes.
He was weak, his eyes cloudy, slowly recalling the events of the past few days, filled with anger and regret, "Ludwik, the Lippert family's downfall... it's all my fault... I've been a complete failure in life..."
Ludwik's handsome face was somber. He knew his father had just recovered from a stroke, and Thea had deliberately provoked him at a critical moment.
She even forced his father to consider divorce, which led to his critical condition again!
But what exactly was said to make Jason, a once indestructible military commander, become so despondent and full of regret?
"Dad, I wanted to talk to you about Thea's divorce papers and what's been happening with the Lippert family these past few days..."
Just then, someone knocked on the door.
A few uniformed police officers walked in, directly showing their badges to Ludwik, "Mr. Lippert, we've received a report from the Doonan family in Banyan City, claiming Justin has been missing for a week from your company.
Today, Barclay reported again, providing evidence that Parker was working for your company.
Parker disappeared under mysterious circumstances in a brickyard in the outskirts a week ago, his life or death unknown.
Barclay accuses you and Justin of conspiring to murder Parker over a chip, believing Barclay's disappearance is connected to you.
Our investigation found Parker's fingerprints at the brickyard, and the men who took him there were hired by Justin.
Given Justin's mental incapacity, as the most directly related person, we need you to come to the station for questioning!"
The officers showed their handcuffs after speaking.
"What? Barclay?" Ludwik was taken aback, completely unprepared for this accusation of murdering Parker.
His gaze blanked for a moment before turning stern, "The complainant?"
"Barclay is outside. He came to Emperor City to file the complaint on behalf of the Doonan family," one officer said.
"Nonsense." Felix couldn't help but speak up, "Officers, Mr. Lippert and the Doonan family are well-acquainted. Mr. Lippert and Parker were like brothers; he would never harm Parker. And if the Doonan family was really looking for Parker, Mr. Doonan wouldn't just rashly accuse Mr. Lippert."
"Barclay doesn't speak for the Doonan family," Ludwik said coldly, "He's making wild accusations about me murdering someone. Bring him here to face me directly, or I'm not going anywhere."
The officer was about to call the complainant in when Barclay strutted to the doorway. He hadn't seen much of Ludwik before, only knew of his close relationship with Parker.
