Chapter 229 Feeling Unsettled
Anastasia was startled by the sudden turn of events.
The people around them all turned to look.
Leaving immediately would be inappropriate. She had endured him when dancing. It wouldn't be hard for her to pretend to care about him.
She hesitated for a moment before turning back.
"Christian, are you okay?"
She reached out to help him up, but Christian sat on the couch and didn't let go of Anastasia's arm. Instead, he held onto it tightly.
Anastasia tried to pull away but couldn't break free.
What the hell? Was he pretending?
Frowning, Christian spoke in a low, hoarse voice, "I feel unwell."
Kimberly approached upon hearing the commotion, and when she saw the situation, she hesitated for a moment before walking over to assess Christian's condition.
"He's allergic to alcohol. We need to take him to the hospital."
Anastasia was shocked for a moment. "How is it possible for him to be allergic to alcohol?"
Kimberly replied, "He wouldn't be allergic to a single type of alcohol, but if he mixed several strong liquors together, he could have this kind of reaction. It has happened before when he was young. He should have been more careful tonight."
Kimberly frowned and glanced at the time.
"Ms. Graves, could you please take him to the hospital? I have some other matters to attend to and won't be able to spare anyone to help him right now."
Anastasia hesitated. "Isn't this inappropriate?"
"It's necessary. With our collaboration approaching, we can't afford rumors about discord between you two. It's best for everyone," Kimberly replied softly with a smile, helping Christian up.
"Please take him to the hospital quickly. If we delay any further, he might suffocate."
Anastasia was speechless for being bothered before leaving.
With so many people present, Anastasia had to help Christian stand up reluctantly. She replied loudly to Kimberly, "Don't worry, Miss Samuel. I will take care of your request. I'll inform you as soon as I've taken Mr. Patterson to the hospital!"
She didn't want other people to think she volunteered to take him to the hospital.
