Although Zedran didn't know what deep-seated hatred Rocco and Matthew had, he sensed a sharp, icy aura from Rocco and could tell he wasn't lying. After weighing the pros and cons, Zedran made up his mind.
"Screw it! If this works, our fortunes will soar."
"Lord Zedran, congratulations on making a wise choice. While I live, your beloved son will take the throne.
For some reason, even though Zedran thought Rocco was boasting, a voice inside him told him this man could make it happen. It was an undeniably persuasive power. Prince Garrett sensed it, Arabella sensed it, and Zedran sensed it too.
"Here's to our success."
They toasted with tea instead of wine.
"Lord Zedran, please act quickly. I'll buy you as much time as I can on my end."
"Time is short, so I’ll take my leave now."
As Rocco reached the door, Zedran suddenly called out to him.
"Mr. Rocco, I have a question. You serve Prince Toby. Why are you doing this?"
Rocco turned and smiled slightly, "Lord Zedran, didn't you say curiosity killed the cat? I'll return that saying to you. Knowing too much won't do you any good."
