Man With Super Medical Skill novel Chapter 3304

Errol's smile froze abruptly, his chubby face turning an alarming shade of red. "Mr. Summit Warden, this… this…" he stammered, struggling to find the right words.

Matthew gave him a reassuring pat on the shoulder, smiling gently. "No need to be so tense, Mr. Hervey. I'm not opposed to a bit of luxury. A little indulgence here and there is perfectly understandable."

Matthew himself liked to maintain a decent standard of living when it came to food, clothing, and housing. He wouldn't hold it against someone like Errol, who managed the Dewsbury Martial League, for doing the same.

Relieved by Matthew's words, Errol exhaled a deep breath and quickly patted his chest. "You nearly scared me to death, Mr. Summit Warden."

Matthew calmly took a seat in the chair in front of him, eyeing Errol with a mild expression. "Mr. Hervey, I've heard Mr. Mirren has been in seclusion for over 30 years now."

"Yes, the president has been in closed-door training for more than three decades without emerging," Errol replied, though he was puzzled as to why Matthew would ask such an obvious question.

Matthew nodded thoughtfully. "And you've been running the Martial League during this time, correct? How are things going within the League?"

Errol hesitated for a moment, his round eyes darting as he considered Matthew's inquiry. The Martial League had been running smoothly enough—nothing too spectacular, but at least it wasn't in the dire state Hulwin's branch was in. Everything seemed average, nothing out of the ordinary.

"Mr. Summit Warden, the Martial League has been operating quite well under my care over the years. Every year, we cultivate a significant number of talented fighters through professional training," Errol replied, carefully choosing his words.

Matthew's gaze shifted to the documents on Errol's desk. "I'd like to see these promising young talents you've mentioned. Is that possible?"

His curiosity piqued further as he thought about how many talented individuals—like Cole, who possessed both remarkable talent and temperament—had likely been overlooked by Errol. It seemed strange that Errol hadn't unearthed such promising individuals.

A flicker of panic crossed Errol's eyes as he forced a grin. "Mr. Summit Warden, there's really nothing special about those kids. Actually, I've already reserved a banquet at Anemoi Pavilion to make up for missing your welcome celebration last time. Would you do me the honor of attending?"

The more Errol tried to deflect, the more Matthew was convinced something was amiss within the Martial League.

"What if I insist on seeing them?" Matthew's eyes narrowed slightly, a faint but knowing smile tugging at his lips as he stared at Errol.

That smile sent a cold sweat dripping down Errol's back. If this Summit Warden uncovered everything he had been hiding, Errol knew he'd be in deep trouble—he might not die, but he'd surely wish he had.

He had already done his homework on Matthew. The man was known to be kind and courteous, but certain lines simply could not be crossed. Over the years, Errol had relied heavily on support from various influential families. In return, he'd funneled Martial League resources—like precious pills and training materials—to the family disciples, leaving the commoner children with little to no resources. While he'd been forced into this position, largely because Pontus was also a member of an influential family, Errol knew wrongdoing was wrongdoing. There was no way to justify it.

Errol's mind raced as he tried to think of a way out of the situation, but eventually, he gave in with a strained smile. "If you insist on seeing them, sir, then, of course, it can be arranged, no problem at all."

Shawn, standing on the side, watched Errol's forced smile and quirked his lips, thinking there was something about the vice president that felt overly fake—that smile of his never seemed to change, as if it were painted on permanently.

The Martial League's second floor was designed as a training facility. The soundproofing was top-notch, with the walls having been reinforced to ensure the children could practice without disturbing anyone on the other floors.
