"Aunt Helen, there's one more thing that's been weighing heavily on my grandfather's mind. I was hoping you could help," Miller said, looking at Helen with an apologetic expression.
Helen's face stiffened slightly, and she felt a bit annoyed. She had already shown them the secret supply channels for S&L's Breakfast, but they were asking for more.
Noticing the change in Helen's expression, Miller quickly added, "Don't worry, Aunt Helen, it's just a small favor. It'll only take a moment of your time."
Hearing this, the tension in Helen's face eased somewhat. "Miller, we're family. If there's something you need, just say it."
Miller smiled, moving behind Helen to gently massage her shoulders. "Aunt Helen, here's the situation. When my grandfather was younger, he had an illegitimate son. But due to certain circumstances, the boy was never brought into the Cunningham Family and ended up living abroad," Miller said, his voice taking on a somber tone.
"My grandfather's illegitimate son had a tough life overseas and passed away in his thirties due to illness. Our family thought we had lost all contact with that side, and it has become a deep regret for my grandfather. He blames himself constantly, and even I, as his grandson, feel the weight of his guilt," Miller's voice wavered as if he were holding back tears.
Helen patted his hand gently, offering comfort. "Miller, it's alright. I'm sure if your grandfather's son understood his feelings, he wouldn't hold any grudges."
Miller seemed to struggle to control his emotions, and after a long pause, he continued. "That's not all, though. Just a few days ago, we received news from Montiria. It turns out that while my uncle has passed, he left behind a child."
At that, his tone grew hesitant. "But my cousin, who I've never met, is in a terrible situation. He's currently imprisoned in Montiria's dungeons, being whipped daily by the guards. My grandfather was hoping…"
Miller trailed off, his face filled with embarrassment. "Matthew is the Prime Regent of Montiria, a position that allows him to share control of the country with the king. Even though you're his mother-in-law, that still makes you someone with influence. We were hoping you could speak to someone in Montiria and see if you could get my cousin released."
Miller's words left Helen looking troubled. He shot a glance at Tritus, who immediately picked up on the signal.
Tritus jumped in smoothly, saying, "This should be a small favor for you, right, Ms. Freeman? If I recall, Montiria is basically under Matthew's control. You're his mother-in-law—your words are as good as the Regent's. Who would dare disobey you?"
"But I don't know anyone in Montiria," Helen replied helplessly. It wasn't that she didn't want to help Miller's cousin, but as much as Matthew held power in Montiria, she was just his in-law. There was no way she had connections with those high-ranking officials.
Miller was standing behind Helen, so she couldn't see the satisfied expression that crossed his face.
"Don't worry, Aunt Helen. We'll handle the rest. All we need from you is a short video asking for my cousin's release."
