Rain fell heavily that night. Yun Muqing kneeled in front of the gates for the entire night, not to apologize or seek redemption but to allow her to see her daughter and feed her with life-sustaining milk.
"Five years. It's been five years," Yun Muqing mumbled to herself as she closed her eyes.
Her hands and feet felt cold. Even though so much time had passed, she could never forget the helplessness, despair, and humiliation she felt that night.
A palm wrapped around her hand. It felt very warm.
Chu Feng smiled at her. "Don't worry. Now that I'm here with you, no one can bully you," he said. His voice was soft, but the authority was undeniable.
Yun Muqing nodded and smiled. She felt safe whenever she was with him.
"Let's go in."
Chu Feng and Yun Muqing approached the Yun family residence. A middle-aged woman decked out in fancy clothes and expensive jewelry ran up to Yun Muqing and took her hand. "You're finally here, Muqing. What took you so long?"
The woman was none other than Li Fenglan.
She bragged to the other women, "See? This is my daughter, Yun Muqing. She's the current CEO of Yun Group."
