Around them, the crowd kept cheering, hooting, and taking photos.
Damien stood in the middle of the countless roses before Cherise and looked at her lovingly.
She felt that she and Damien had fully reconciled. Still, she hadn't anticipated that Damien would set up such a grand proposal to publicly declare their renewed relationship.
She knew that news of such a lavish proposal would soon spread overseas. It wouldn't be long before the conservative Tanner family got wind of it. And perhaps... Rowena and Ursula would also seethe with rage.
But does it matter? Nothing was more significant to Cherise than the man standing before her.
The woman took a deep breath and smiled as she extended her hand. "What do you think my answer is?" The coy smile on her face said it all.
Damien pursed his lips and dropped all pretenses. He reached out to slide the ring onto her finger. "I believe you're more than ready to marry me." With that, he swept Cherise into his arms.
The crowd erupted into cheers and applause.
Cherise nestled into Damien's arms, feeling shy yet exhilarated. She lay her head on his chest as he carried her through the crowd. They walked across the red carpet strewn with rose petals and into the extended Lincoln, also covered in roses.
As the car door closed, thunderous applause still echoed in her ears. Her heart was brimming with an indescribable sense of joy and excitement.
Damien held her close to him. "Cherise." He rested his chin on her head. "I must admit, I didn't expect you to agree so readily."
