My Fair Stunner novel Chapter 252

Chapter 252 His Past

To avoid being noticed, Faye and Jake decided to leave two hours apart.

Faye went first and took a taxi home. She sat in the taxi and looked at the snowflakes falling outside the window, smiling. "The Spring Festival is coming."

Hearing this, the driver glanced at Faye in the rearview mirror, confirmed that she was talking to him, and answered with a smile, "Yeah, how time flies! A year has elapsed in a flash."

"Right. Year after year. Time really flies."

When Jake came out of the tavern, he was already drunk in a dazed state.

The owner of the tavern was an old acquaintance of his and personally helped him out and called a taxi.

Jake was forced into the taxi and then lowered the window to say goodbye to the owner.

The owner was helpless. "He has been dead for many years. Forget it. Tomorrow I'm going to renovate the private room. If you come here next time, you will find it has been changed into another style."

Jake glared at him. "Don't renovate it."

The owner waved at the taxi driver. "Hurry up, and drive this alcoholic home."

The taxi driver was unhappy, leaned forward, and looked out of the open window. "Are you sure he can pay me when he gets home?"

Understanding what the driver was concerned about, the owner took out 15 dollars and handed it to the driver. "Pull away. Pull away quickly."

The driver was amused by the impatient expression on the owner's face. "As the owner of the tavern, you should pay out of your own pocket. Is he your friend?"

"No. Pull away quickly."

"OK."

The taxi driver thought it was a no-lose deal, so he was in a good mood on the way and drove at a steady rate.

However, when the destination was near, Jake suddenly got a sick feeling in his belly and threw up all over the back seat of the taxi.

The driver looked at him in the rearview mirror, looking bad. "Brother, don't vomit. Washing my taxi will cost more than 15 dollars."

Jake felt better after he threw up, leaning his head against the window to feel the wind and sober up. Next, he pulled his phone out of his pocket and scanned the payment QR code on the taxi.

The next second, the driver received a voice prompt: 75 dollars has arrived in your WeChat account.

The driver was surprised, then smiled radiantly, handing him a bottle of mineral water from the onboard drawer. "Brother, here you are. Take a sip of water. Why did you drink so much?"

After being in the cold air, Jake sobered up a bit, unscrewed the cap of the mineral water bottle, drank a mouthful to gargle, and then spit it out the window. After that, he drank two mouthfuls in succession. "Thank you."

"You're welcome. Drink less in the future. Now you think it's of small importance because you're young. But it will be difficult physically when you get older."

Jake was lost in thought, looking at the neon outside the window. "I'm 37 years old now."

"You're 37 and still young. Are you married? How old are your children?"

Jake closed his eyes. "My lover has been dead for many years."

The driver was stunned. "Brother, I'm sorry I brought it up."
