Chapter 490 A Complicated Feeling
Rebecca had never felt so embarrassed before. After a few seconds of awkward silence, she forced a flattering smile. She suspected that she had been cursed. Otherwise, she should not have been so unlucky.
When she was thinking about how to make a polite and disembarrassing opening statement, the cashier said, "Hello, one thousand and three hundred dollars."
Hearing this, Rebecca instantly turned her head back with a smile, took out her phone, and said, "Okay, please scan my payment code."
She had lived for more than 20 years, but this was the first time she had felt the voice urging her to pay was so pleasing to the ear. After she paid the bill, she walked outward with a few bags. But after taking two steps, she walked back and smiled at Abbot.
Abbot raised his eyebrows and asked, "What's wrong?"
Rebecca said, "Mr. Carter, I have something else to do, so I'm leaving now!"
Before Abbot could reply, she left without turning her head back.
Abbot was speechless.
More than ten minutes later, Rebecca arrived in the corridor of the hospital with a few bags and sat down next to Faye.
Faye grinned, "Why did you buy so many things?"
Rebecca replied, "I can't visit a patient empty-handed."
Then, she glanced at cold-faced Ethan who was empty-handed, coughed lightly, and hurriedly changed the subject, asking, "How long has Mr. Farrell been in?"
Faye looked down at the watch on her wrist and replied, "About an hour."
Rebecca asked, "Are you nervous?"
Faye said, "You guess?"
Rebecca leaned closer to her, made faces, and said, "Don't be too nervous. Think positively. Mr. Farrell's surgery is worthwhile! You will have your child soon."
Hearing her words, Faye smiled, "Yes, you're right."
Seeing her smile, Rebecca bent down, took out a bottle of yogurt from a bag, unscrewed it, and handed it to her, saying, "Drink."
Faye refused, "I don't want to drink."
Rebecca said, "Food is essential to people. Even though you can deceive others, you can't deceive me. You must have eaten only a little food at breakfast this morning."
Rebecca knew her well.
Faye was afraid that she would continue to expose her, so she reached out to take over the yogurt and took two sips.
Rebecca tilted her head to look at her. When she was about to say something, Ethan who was standing opposite asked lightly, "Why did it take so long to buy water?"
Abbot said, "You should have been more down-to-earth! Don't you know people need to wait in a queue to check out in convenience stores?"
Hearing this, Rebecca's smile froze on her face, and she swallowed the words on the tip of her tongue.
When Abbot came over with the mineral water, he noticed her but didn't say a word. He pretended not to see her, walked up to Ethan, and handed him a bottle of mineral water.
Ethan took it over and jerked his chin at Abbot with a half-smile.
Abbot pretended not to understand what he meant, turned around calmly, and handed Faye a bottle of water.
Faye said, "Thank you."
