Chapter 770 A Casual Drink to Lift the Spirits
After all, Violet's temperament was considered reserved and slow to warm up.
Especially when it came to matters of romantic relationships.
Thus, impatience wasn't advisable.
Colin chuckled at those words and didn't continue the topic any further.
Eating barbeque was all about the lively atmosphere.
Midway through the meal, Colin suggested having some beer.
He called it "a casual drink to lift the spirits."
Upon hearing the idea of drinking, Faye didn't react much on her end. She simply mentioned that she wouldn't drink, as it would be more convenient for her to drive later.
Violet glanced at Ethan and Colin. After considering for a moment, she said, "My tolerance for alcohol isn't very good."
Colin's eyes held a hint of a smile and he said, "Ethan, Ms. Rowan isn't very good with alcohol…"
He remained composed and said, "Don't drink that much then."
After Ethan spoke, Violet pursed her lips and nodded, "Alright, I'll drink a little then."
Violet indeed had a poor alcohol tolerance.
After a few glasses, her face began to turn red.
As she continued to drink, her eyes became unfocused, locked onto Ethan's hand holding a cigarette without moving.
Faye was the first to notice Violet's abnormal behavior. Violet appeared quite gentle and cute when she was drunk.
Especially given her already gentle appearance, she seemed more captivating now.
Colin raised his eyebrow at the scene and asked, "Are you still going to drink?"
Ethan set down his glass and replied, "No."
Colin chuckled lightly, "I'll go settle the bill."
While Colin was saying that, he stood up and walked out. He gave a subtle glance to Faye before leaving.
Understanding his signal, Faye picked up her coat and left after him.
Once they left, only Ethan and Violet were left in the room.
Violet's wine glass had been replaced with a glass of juice by Faye. She held it with both hands, not drinking or moving.
Ethan snuffed out his cigarette between his fingers and spoke in a deep voice, "Are you drunk?"
Violet shook her head and replied, "No."
"Try to have some juice. It might help."
Violet looked bewildered. Upon hearing Ethan's words, she lowered her head and took a sip of the juice.
After a while, Violet suddenly realized something and abruptly stood up. She was intending to leave.
Ethan's Adam's apple bobbed. He reached out, gripped Violet's wrist, and firmly pulled her into an embrace.
Despite being somewhat intoxicated, Violet still had some consciousness. She placed her hands on Ethan's shoulders, her eyes reddened and she said, "Et... "Brother Ethan.""
Ethan responded in a low voice, "Why are you running away?"
"I... I'm not running away. I'm... I'm going home."
Ethan asked, "Without me, how are you going home?"
As he finished speaking, Violet's hands resting on Ethan's shoulders tightened slightly. She pursed her lips and remained silent.
The two of them stood in that deadlock for a few minutes. Ultimately, Ethan gave in. He raised the hand on Violet's lower back and lightly patted it twice while saying, "Let's go. I'll take you home."
After leaving the room, Violet's drunkenness subsided quite a bit.
It was a little cold after the rain., so Ethan took off his suit jacket and draped it over her shoulders.
"Thank you," Violet said and then hesitated before adding, ""Brother Ethan.""
Ethan stood in the night's darkness, his eyebrows slightly raised, and his expression was unreadable. He didn't say a word.
Brother Ethan?
Was that a subtle way of reminding him of their relationship?
The two stood on the steps in silence when Faye's car pulled up from the parking lot.
Ethan opened the car door for Violet, and they got in.
Faye looked at Violet through the rearview mirror, and smiled as she asked, "Does the alcohol wear off?"
Violet nodded and felt a bit embarrassed.
Faye turned her head back, adjusted the steering wheel, and continued, "Violet, I saw earlier. Your limit with beer is around four bottles. It's best to keep it within three bottles. When you're out in the future and don't have familiar people around you, try not to exceed three bottles."
A warm feeling spread through Violet's heart. She said, "Okay, thank you."
